Timber has the golden combination of having a prime age, a great size, a beautiful color, and a safe and seasoned personality! Gentle and consistent, he is the same every day. I have let many levels of riders borrow him for group trail rides and he has helped to build confidence for more than one nervous visitor, as well as stepping up to the plate for more experienced guests to do ranch jobs with us. I enjoy riding Timber up the road bareback by myself to check the mail, and he has also been around traffic, asphalt and the hustle of town life without concern. Standing in a line of cars at the coffee shop drive-through did not rattle him, and neither did the barking dogs, white picket fences, or young people asking if they could come up and pet him in town! Timber is solid and easy out on the trail. He has been surefooted through rugged mountain terrain and trustily followed at the end of a rein when I’ve had to get off and break trail through timber, rocks and deadfall for us to make our way through. He is content to be a leisure horse and does not require steady riding to stay safe, sane and reliable. Even after weeks of vacation, I trust him to be caught out of the pasture and let me hop on bareback in a halter to ride to the gate. Timber is not easily bothered by things, hauls to-and-from new locations without complaint, and is true to his personality no matter who is on his back. He is the kind of horse that fits a wide range of riders from “horsey” families to retirees who want a good trail horse, and he is easy to get to know! Ridden by Hailey True Wortham.
