Mesquite, or “Mesquito” as he is nicknamed, has been our backup ranch horse for a handful of years now! The best thing about Mesquite is his predictability. Through numerous riders and experiences over the years, he has proven to be the same horse inside and out. This guy has literally done it all. From packing to trail riding and hunting elk sheds, gathering cows to roping, taking intermediate guests out to running in the saddle horses, Mesquite has probably already seen it. He knows how to handle himself in rugged country and how to relax on simple trails. He's familiar with cattle, water crossings, timber, rocks, icy winter wind and sudden summer storms. Countless times he’s spent the day traversing the mountains with saddlebags shifting and elk antlers hanging off his saddle. We’ve turned him out for a couple months in the winter or for weeks at a time during hay season, so he is accustomed to time off as well as having full-time job. This is a been-there-done-that type gelding with a lot of life experience that will lend itself well to his next owner! We’d be happy to tell you more about him via email at horses@wyodiamond.com or 307-298-5030!
