Consigned by Carly Davis, Amarillo is a grade 8 year old palomino Quarter/Thoroughbred cross gelding with light dappling and Bend Or spots (random dark markings common to Thoroughbreds). Carly will have owned him for 14 months at the time of the auction in June, 2012. He is extremely gentle with a quiet disposition and nothing fazes him, even gunfire from his back. He has proven himself as a steady horse in many different arenas, including gymkhanas, an extreme cowboy race competition, a city parade, packing heavy loads for elk hunters in the San Juan mountains, many days in the feedlot, and in front of a large audience at a show with over 200 other horses in the arena. He has been ridden by kids and beginners, aged from 8 to 72.

He can shift from an experienced rider to a beginner in a heartbeat and will go from a full run to walking calmly in the same amount of time. He is sound and healthy with thick legs and large hooves. He can be caught anywhere and will follow you around the pasture. He will go anywhere you ask, whether it’s through the drive through at Wendy’s, up steep mountain trails, or sliding down the Great Sand Dunes in southern CO. Carly has put him through his paces and has fished from his back, flown a kite off of him, left him hobbled, pulled a snow sled behind him, ridden him in a drill team, trailered him for hours, wrangled horses, herded cows, and taken him swimming. He will go all day and will be a reliable partner for his new owner.
